Sylvie Nantais
My love of words began by the age of three. I hung around my siblings and learned to read before I even began school. I started writing poetry at 11, a glorious habit I never overcame. I received a B.A. in English Literature with a minor in Humanities, followed by a B.FA. in Dance Choreography. On the side I studied music, particularly piano, and now moonlight as a piano teacher. I am an artsy-fartsy through and through! However, I am also a history buff and a voracious reader in all subject matter and genres.
Once past my university years, I found myself, unplanned, in the publishing industry, working as an editor (still freelancing) and then as a co-publisher for a period of five years. I. When my children were small, I was hired as a columnist for a local paper with a readership of 45,000, an experience I enjoyed for over 6 years. I wrote editorial-style articles on current events and societal issues related to the family.
Now that my children are growing up and moving on, I have gone back to my love of writing, with books of poetry and history dancing in my head like sugar plums but not always easy to catch hold of!
